Hi, I’m Ashley. I earned my Master of Food Preserver certification in 2018 and love sharing safe food preservation practices alongside traditional kitchen skills that fit into everyday life. Growing up on a dairy farm inspired a lifelong love of growing, preserving, and baking with the seasons, and I enjoy sharing not only how, but also the history and stories behind the traditions.

Canning for Beginners

An illustrated “Canning for Beginners” workshop! Learn the history of home canning and how to begin canning at home. Whether you’re a beginner or just want to refresh your skills, this class will guide you step-by-step. Workshop attendees will have the opportunity to sample some of my home-canned foods, and each participant will leave with a detailed booklet and recipes.

For those who want to roll up their sleeves, we also offer a hands-on session where you’ll actively participate in the canning process. By the end of the workshop, you’ll have your very own jar of freshly canned goods to take home!

Sourdough Baking

Master the art of baking sourdough from scratch in this hands-on workshop! Learn how to create and maintain your own starter, mix and knead dough, and bake a beautiful loaf of naturally leavened bread. I’ll guide you through each step so you can keep baking successfully in your own kitchen. Each participate takes home a sourdough starter and recipes.

Workshops can be customized to your interest and may include:

  • Traditional artisan loaves
  • Homemade sourdough bagels
  • Crackers and discard recipes
  • Freshly milled grain breads
  • Sweet sourdough treats
  • Sourdough pizza crust

Private Classes

Looking for a more personalized experience? I offer private one-on-one and small group instruction in home canning, sourdough baking, fermentation, and gardening and seasonal food production.

Classes are customized to your interests, experience level, and goals. Whether you’re just getting started or looking to refine your skills, I’ll tailor the experience to meet your goals.
