OUR STORY

Meet Ashley from Lunar View Farm
Hi there – I’m so glad you stopped by!
I’m Ashley, the creator behind Lunar View Farms, a watercolor artist, food preservationist, hobby farmer, and mom living in the beautiful Hudson River Valley. Whether you’re here to explore food, art, or more intentional way of living, I hope you feel right at home.
Lunar View Farm is a space where art, agriculture, and ancestral skills come together. Here, I share gardening tips, home-cooked recipes, fermentation and food preservation know-how, and inspiration for a handmade, natural home — all rooted in the belief that simplicity and connection matter.
The Journey Here

I grew up on a dairy farm in Western New York with my four sisters. That early experience — living close to the land — left a deep impression on me. I guess that old saying is true: once a farmer, always a farmer, and that is just it, this farmer girl still has farm life in her heart.
After finishing my bachelor’s degree in fine art and anthropology at Binghamton University, I worked for a traveling archaeology firm (I wanted to be an archaeologist since I was very little). Shortly afterwards, I received a job offer, moved to the Hudson Valley. There, I fell in love with my husband and all thing history — historical fiber arts, quilts, and textiles, and even co-authored two books!
In 2013, I started blogged with some of my awesome gal pals at FarmHouse Magazine, sharing our mutual love of slow living. After having children, life shifted. I paused blogging and took time to learn and grow — eventually earning my Master Food Preservation certificate in 2018. That opened the door to my passion for fermentation, gut health, and seasonal, homegrown food.
Artist & Maker
While my roots are in farming, I’m also a working artist — blending watercolor and block printing to explore movement, form, and emotion. I draw inspiration from my grandmother Elaine, who never called herself an artist, but transformed everyday objects into works of beauty. Her creative spirit has left a permanent mark on my heart.
For me, painting is more than just skill; it is a heritage, a calling. The process of mixing colors and allowing them to flow together deepens my connection to my past, my emotions and experiences.

Why the name “Lunar View”?
The name Lunar View was inspired by the idea that, no matter where we are, we can all look up at the same moon, and those connections are everything! It’s a gentle reminder that we’re connected — next time you see the moon, take a deep breath and remember the little things:
🌙 the littlest connections
🌙 tangy little tomatoes
🌙 tiny little baby feet
🌙fuzzy little chicks of spring
🌙 little bubbles burbling (from your sourdough)
🌙 delicate little star snowflakes
Any little (fill in your own here) that brings joy to your heart! Whatever your “little thing” is — hold onto it. Those small joys matter most.
